AF/KL introduce a second bag fee for travel between IATA area Europe (*) & the U.S.
- for tickets issued on/after 01nov09
- for travel on/after 01nov09
2nd Bag Fees
- You will be charged EUR 50 or its local equivalent when departing from countries in Europe.
- You will be charged USD 50 when departing the U.S.
You will be exempt from the second bag fee if you’re:
- First and Business Class customers
- SkyTeam Elite Plus & Elite customers
- Active U.S. duty military members traveling on orders
- Customers travelling on Marine/Seamen fares
Children under 2 years of age (not occupying a seat):
- retain their hand baggage allowance
- an continue to check-in one piece of baggage, weighing up to 10 kgs
- can also take a fully collapsible stroller on board at no charge.
Customers will reduced mobility
- may continue to travel with their medical equipment.
- In addition, they may be allowed to check-in one additional piece weighing up to 23 kgs.
(*) Countries in IATA Europe include:
Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faeroe Islands, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Gibraltar, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldavia, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, the Ukraine, the United Kingdom.
Note that Libya and Israel are excluded.
Changes to British Airways Baggage Policy
Customer travelling in the World Traveller economy cabin to and from the USA, Canada , Bermuda, Argentina, Mexico and the Carribean will have a one bag free allowance of 23kgs.This means that the World Traveller allowances will be the same for the majority of British Airways routes
- Hold baggage size changes from 240x75x65 to 190x75x65
- Charges for excess (£25 to £30) and extra luggage (£90 to £40 for first excess bag, then £90 for subsequent bags).
- For UK domestics, extra bag increase from £25 to £35 per bag
- Firearms cost of £50 per direction.
- Sporting equipment now need to fit within luggage sizes and will be included as part customers free checked baggage allowance. Changes to the sporting equipment policy applies for bookings made from 31 July for customers travelling from 07 October 2009.
- Executive Club Gold and Silver card holders will be entitled to two pieces of luggage on all routes when they travel in World Traveller, Euro Traveller or Domestic
